Research Projects

The Fundo Mascoitania is a prime research site because of its variety of forest types and ecosystems, a legacy of previous agricultural use and timer extraction during the 1950s to late 1980s. The area contains primary rainforest as well as forests in various stages of re-growth, providing a unique opportunity to research the ability of different species to adapt to changing ecosystems. Such information can later be used to create conservation and sustainability strategies to protect the biodiversity that the Peruvian Amazon is so famous for.
