The Manu Learning Centre (MLC) is comprised
of three multi-purpose lodges that provide comfortable accommodation,
research facilities and ample space for educational activities.
Constructed using sustainable principles, the MLC was built to minimise
impact to the local environment, and used a fusion of traditional
thatching techniques with modern design. It is also run using a
variety of sustainable techniques, such as gravity fed water pumps,
solar energy panels and environmentally sound septic systems.
The MLC offers a variety of areas for relaxation and activity.
The dining area and lounge are surrounded by gardens and provide
space for educational lectures and briefings. The library offers
access to books, maps and research samples, as well as a quiet
area for reading and study. And after a day of exploring one of
the MLC's well-maintained rainforest trails, visitors can relax
in the hammock area that overlooks a nearby waterfall. |
