School Outreach Programme

The Crees Foundation has recently developed an exciting partnership with the University of Oregon’s Environmental Leadership programme. We will provide university teaching students baseline data on a threatened species of rain forest macaws to help them develop curriculum that illustrates 'how science works' and how the analysis of data can lead to new scientific findings. It is expected that approximately 180 5th graders in the Eugene, Washington area will benefit from this new programme. The new curriculum will then be translated into Spanish for use in local Peruvian schools.

"This is a very exciting new development for ELP. When Katie Lynch and I visited MLC last year we were welcomed with open arms. This new partnership allows us to take the concepts our students learn and apply them in an international context.  We're really looking forward to using new technology to collaborate with far-flung places."

- Steve Mital (Co-coordinator of ELP)
